Open Internet Statement

Wi-Fiber, Inc. (WI-FIBER) is committed to maintaining an open Internet that provides consumers with competitive choices, and access to lawful websites and information when, where, and how they want it. We recognize that the Internet is an essential medium for free expression and communication, for education and creative endeavors, as well as for business activities and opportunities, and we are committed to maintaining that medium for all Internet users. As we approach new Internet-related opportunities and strategically grow and manage our network, we are guided by and comply with the FCC’s Open Internet Order, Net Neutrality rules, and our own core standards for addressing the needs of our customers. We post this information regarding our network management processes so that consumers, both residential and business, can make informed choices when choosing an Internet service provider. This document contains information regarding our services, in compliance with the FCC’s rules. The policies contained herein serve as a supplement to, and do not replace or alter, our existing Terms and Conditions which can be found at https://wi-fiber.io/legal.

Application-Specific Behavior: WI-FIBER does not block any lawful content, applications, services, or non-harmful devices. WI-FIBER does not block any Web sites, or block any applications that compete with our voice services. All lawful Internet use is treated identically. WI-FIBER does not slow down or throttle one type of use over another.

Devices: Subscribers may connect to the service with any lawful, non-harmful equipment of their choice. Subscriber equipment (typically a router or home computer) connects via an Ethernet cable to the WI-FIBER Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). The CPE will be mounted on the customer’s home, usually on the rooftop, and will receive the signal wirelessly from a WI-FIBER site nearby.

Services and Pricing: WI-FIBER provides services to the customer using fixed terrestrial wireless technologies. For specific details on our current pricing and plans please see the applicable section of our website, where you can find the best deals on Residential Internet, Business Internet.

Security: Due to the constantly evolving nature of the Internet, WI-FIBER continually updates its network security practices. In general, these security practices should not have any effect on our customers’ experience. It is the end user’s responsibility to ensure they are using secure sites and have adequate protection on their devices. Our network is encrypted and no devices are allowed to connect to our network that we have not authorized.

Performance Characteristics: WI-FIBER currently offers residential plans ranging from 5 Mbps to 500 Mbps, with plans to expand this offering in the future. WI-FIBER also offers dedicated connections with a guaranteed Service Level Agreement (SLA) up to 10 Gbps, where available, on a case-by-case basis. We aim to provide consistent, reliable speeds at all times. Standard service plans (not ‘dedicated’) are advertised as “up to” the speeds that are offered. Customers typically see their advertised “up-to” speeds on a standard TCP/IP speed test 95% of the time. However, there are many factors and conditions outside of WI-FIBER’s control that can affect Internet performance. Some examples of these conditions are as follows:

  • Performance of customers’ computers or router
  • Localized interference from neighboring WiFi networks
  • Congestion of websites and online services
  • Network performance outside of the WI-FIBER network

Overages / Throttling: For accounts and services with a data plan: Customers will be charged overages for data used beyond their monthly usage plans. These overages are billed at a rate of .50 cents per 10GB of use after a customer has hit their monthly limit. Usage can easily be tracked via the data usage tab on our customer portal. The system also automatically notifies customers via the email address on file when they have reached 90% and again when they have reached 100% of their monthly allotted data. Customers may also opt-in to receive emails about their current data usage on certain days of the week, again via our customer portal. We only throttle customers’ speeds if they have exceeded the monthly allotted data. This throttling is purely for the benefit of the customer, to slow the rate at which they would incur overages. We will lift this throttling by request if an automated payment method is on file.

Privacy Policies: WI-FIBER does not store browsing information and does not provide network usage information to third parties without a court order. However, WI-FIBER reserves the right at all times and without notice to delete any content and to monitor, review, retain and/or disclose any content or other information in WI-FIBER’s possession, however obtained, about or related to you, your use of the Service or otherwise as WI-FIBER deems necessary or useful to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request. WI-FIBER complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and provides strict enforcement of repeated violations.

Questions or Complaints: If you have questions or concerns regarding WI-FIBER services or our network management policies you may contact us at support@wi-fiber.io or by phone at (435) 919-5119.
